Remember, you have (re)created a life while you’ve been in the UK – to ensure you aren’t paying for services you no longer need – unsubscribe and/or cancel direct debits or automatic repayments.

As you leave the UK, you may wish to close your bank accounts, but worth noting: reimbursements from the High Commission are processed through UK Bank Accounts, so keep one or more open for the first few months of your redeployment home. There is actually no requirement to shut them at all, so if you think you may be coming back at any stage in your career – it may well be in your interest to keep the accounts open.
